Looking through some 1965 TV Shows, I ran across an original episode of “I Dream of Jeannie.” I think everyone hopes for a genie to grant them three wishes. It’s a key reason why the show caught my attention—I could dream. What would I ask for? A mansion, a maid and butler?
For the average heterosexual teenage boy, seeing Barbara Eden’s belly button on TV was the equivalent to today’s Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream.
The first season was filmed entirely black and white. After doing a bit of research, I found out that they could have filmed in color, but the color techniques to make Jeannie disappear or reappear in a cloud of smoke was not yet perfected to the point where producers thought it would be realistic.
So a living room inside of Jeannie’s bottle was realistic? I wanted a way to go inside and check it out. It seemed so cool at the time.
